Guyon's canal syndrome is caused by entrapment of the ulnar nerve in Guyon canal at wrist. Conservative and surgical approaches are used for treatment of Guyon¡¯s canal syndrome, but the effect of conventional treatments is questionable. The purpose of this study is to show the effect of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) as a new strategy of Guyon's canal syndrome. ESWT was applied to four patients, who diagnosed with Guyon¡¯s canal syndrome, twice a week for 6 weeks, 500 shocks, 4 Hz, 0.08 mJ/mm2. The outcome measurement was including the visual analog scale (VAS), QuickDASH scale electrophysiologic study, which performed before treatment, after treatment and 6 month after treatment. The 4 patients were showed improvement of clinical parameter and electrophysiologic parameter. Conclusively, ESWT may be a useful conservative method for treating Guyon's canal syndrome.
